The vintage engagement ring is characterized by the engraving on the side of the ring.  This can be done 2 ways. Either on the mold or by hand.  If the mold already has the engraving, the ring will come out of casting already with the engraved design on it.. Then, the diamonds will be set, and the ring polished.  By doing this you will lose some of the detail in the process.
If the ring is hand engraved, the ring comes out of casting clean. The diamonds will be set and the ring will be high polished.  The, by hand, a designer will etch the ring.  This leaves a very fine, detailed engraving.
